Terry, your thread makes too much sense. I want to go back to being blind and confused.
As always, thanks for an insightful and thought provoking thread.

let us conduct a thought experiment!.
let's say you work for a huge investment firm run by a brilliant ceo who has a perfect track record for business decisions.. the ceo sends e-mails, text messages and makes phone calls from his remote island hideaway heaven island.. none of the employees ever actually see him.
they rely on his hand-picked leaders sitting in the big office on the top floor of the corporate building.. these leaders pass along the transmitted instructions as conduits.. what would ever destroy confidence in these hand-picked leaders as competent and honest brokers?

i considered myself immune to ex jw stuff.
no amount of old watchtowers or anything would change me.
it was seeing treatment of others by elders and the bible itself, which woke me.
BUMP for newbies
2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.
they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.
i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.
Yes, yes! Accept the study! The great day is hours away!
this is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.
BTTT
how many times have you heard that before, whether in or out?
in the past, i truly believed that.
if i were to leave the "truth", where else would i go?.
BUMP!!
so let's say armageddon comes,do you believe that all jw's would be destroyed because jehovah knows it's a false religion...it can't be denied, for the most part, they try to live by the bible...if anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that god wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually....so what i'm trying to ask is....do you think you're in a better position right now not for freedom but for salvation than the witnesses??
if by the time you're finished reading this post armageddon is here...would u wish that you still were a witness or are you satisfied that you've made god proud?.
Is this a thread to count time for Auxiliary Pioneering in March? Sneaky, sneaky!
30 hours! Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!

likely most poeple feel that they at times can and should be both , that is a teacher or a student.
i know i have learned and gained much insight into many things here.. but most often.
fail to make acknowledgement... not sure why i guess i hate for a person to feel i am flattering them or kissing up.
Student! I actually enjoy reading and thinking more than posting. There are many great posters here that both spark my interest and my thought process.
But I occasionally pipe in with some thoughts of my own.

some of you may enjoy this post at the jwr forum.
the author has drafted a 'guide for leaving' the organization, and he would like feedback.. .

Marking for later. I'm going to read the info on that link. Thanks LWT.
in 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.
oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.
but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.
I think this will be a good thread to keep alive. Kind of like the Armageddon hasn't arrived yet thread.
